Revenge of the Mutant Camels
Description
This typically zany Jeff Minter title sets you as a mutated camel, with an optional support one mimicking your moves elsewhere. The hordes of enemies to be taken on include falling umbrellas and drinks machines. Shot enemies release tokens ranging from points bonuses and energy recharges to control-reversers and poison.
Speaking of controls, the game uses the same system as Llamatron, which means that you fire automatically in the direction you're moving, but pressing the fire button allows you to rotate the direction of fire while immobile. This allows enemies in different parts of the screen to be attacked from less precarious positions.

Trivia
Competition
A competition held on the day of the C64 version's original release took the winner to Egypt, to ride a real camel around the Pyramids.
Development
The game was written over a two month period. Programmer Jeff Minter spent hours at the zoo watching a real camel in order to model the camel's animation in the game.
Freeware release
Jeff Minter released the full version of the game as a free download on 8 February 1997, along with Llamatron: 2112. The license allows free distribution by any party as long as no money is charged and the original readme file is not removed from the archive.
