Blankety Blank
Description
Blankety Blank is a DVD game based on the UK TV show which aired between 1979 and 1990 with a revival from 1997-1999 and another in 2001-2002. Terry Wogan hosted the original show back in 1979 and he returns to host this 2006 DVD game.
The DVD comes in a keep case which is enclosed by a card sleeve.
The game can be played in either a one player mode or two player mode. At the start of either game the player is shown a selection of six celebrities who form the game panel. Both single player and two player games are identical, in the single player game the player competes against the DVD. A full game takes around fifteen to twenty minutes.
Round One: Player One starts this round. Terry Wogan reads out an incomplete phrase and player one has to select a word from an on-screen pick list to complete it. Mr Wogan then asks the panellists what word they would have used and the player scores a point for every person who uses the same word that they chose. The process is then repeated with player two.
Round Two: The player with the lowest score from Round One starts this round. The round is played the same as Round One but the player's can only match their chosen words with the panellists who did not match their word in the previous round. If both players are level after this then there is a tie break round.
Supermatch Game: Both players take part in this, they are presented with a two word phrase with one word blanked out. The winner of the first round has first pick of one of the three possible answers, the player that picks the top answer wind the round and the player that has the highest score goes through to the final round, the loser gets a Blankety Blank chequebook and pen.
Final Round: Here the remaining player chooses a panellist to play with, both are presented with another two word phrase with one word blanked out. The player selects an appropriate word from the pick list and if that matches the panellist's word then they win the 'Big Prize', if not they win the coveted Blankety Blank chequebook and pen.
The panellists used in the game vary from one game to the next. At the start of the game just after the names have been revealed there's an opportunity to read their one or two line biographies.
