An enjoyable pinball-style game using alligators as friends and foes.

The Good
The various ins and outs included in the screens make it more fun that just regular pinball games. There are "heads" located various places that send your ball to other locations, such as a bonus screen or even back to the beginning like a new ball. We didn't have an instruction booklet with our game, so some of the things have been learned the hard way! In the bottom screen, the gator tail will slap the ball back into the top screen if you leave the right flipper open.

The bonus screens are the best way to add to your score, if you can get there. There are several ways to get to them, including gateways and passages.

We are still learning all the little extras in this game, despite having played it for a while now. With no instruction booklet, we have to find out on our own!

All in all, it is easy to learn and fun to play.

The Bad
We didn't have the booklet, so not sure how to get around this one - there are default initials and fake scores in the scoring section. You can enter your initials and score if you beat the lowest one. However, for some reason, the scores do not STAY registered. When you turn the game off, your scores no longer exist, and it goes back to the default.

There are also times that the ball will drop straight down into the "dungeon" and gets swallowed by the gator at the bottom, no matter what you do with the flippers. Not sure why that occurs.

The Bottom Line
"Revenge of the Gator" is a pinball-style game for GameBoy systems. You play just like regular pinball, with two sets of flippers. There are two main screens and several bonus screens. You can play solo or as a two-player game. It does not require a high level of gaming knowledge, and playing skill increases fairly rapidly, giving a quick sense of success! But, it is not so simple as to stop being a challenge after a few plays.

Even tho this is an older game, I would recommend it being added to everyone's collection.
