Super Monaco GP
Description official descriptions
Super Monaco GP is a first-person perspective racing game which allows you to race other cars around the famous Monaco Grand Prix course. You first must qualify for a position on the grid by driving round a shortened version of the course on your own. The faster you drive the higher placing on the grid. The actual race has you competing against 19 other drivers and as well as trying to beat them all you must get to checkpoints within a time limit or it is race over. You also have to stay ahead of a certain position which starts at 20th and gets lower the longer the race goes on.
The Genesis version of Super Monaco adds a complete career mode, however. In the career mode, your goal is to win a season of races. Unfortunately, you start with a relatively slow car. By challenging other drivers, you can move to a better team and car, and ultimately win the F1 World Title. As well as the famous Monaco course, others from around the world have been added, to give the game a longer shelf life.

The Good
Control, driving options, and very good graphics for the time. Also, unique game progression and challenges.
The Bad
There is no save option per se. They have a password system, which is okay, but not great. Also, the opponents tend to be relatively simple minded.
The Bottom Line
This game pits your against various Formula 1 type racers for the overall championship title. It allows you to progress to different teams and faster cars based on your performance. A unique option in the game is the ability to challenge other racing teams in a specific race. If you win, you will often be offered a position to race for the upgraded team. This is a classic due to it's control, graphics, and overall feel. The game plays tight with no blaring discrepancies or issues. Graphics are well above average for the time and there is no slow down or flicker when playing through even the fast parts of the tracks. The World Championship mode is a lot of fun and will keep you occupied for a while. Also, I like the choice of three transmissions with the more challenging ones (4 and 7 speed manuals) giving you advantages in overall speed to offset the difficulty and reward your effort at mastering the manual shift.
