Constellation
- Constellation (1992 on Atari 8-bit)
Description
Constellation is a strategy game played on a randomly generated board in which players try to colonize various planets in an attempt at galactic conquest. The player in control of the most planets at the end of the game is pronounced the victor.
Players take turns building bases on planets of varying sizes scattered across the map in order to exert influence on those adjacent to it. A planet falls into a player's possession if that player exerts more influence over it than his competitors. The greater the planet's size the more bases it can support and thus the more influence it will have on the planets around it. If a planet has not yet been influenced by any of the other players, or is under an equal amount of influence, it remains neutral. Bases can be built on any planet not already in possession of an opponent's base, whether neutral, under the player's control, or under the opponent's control. Those built on an opponent's planet are liable to imminent destruction, however, due to a lack of influence.
The game can be altered by a number of optional modifiers which effect the outcome of the map's shape, the sizes of the planets, handicaps, and the length of the game.
