Swigian

Swigian is a text adventure game, created for the 2017 edition of the IFComp. It is highly minimalist and terse in its descriptions; the room descriptions consist of just a few words, and examining any items usually results in nothing more than "That is what it is". The player takes control of an enigmatic protagonist, undescribed beyond "You look like me," and initially of unclear identity. Throughout the game the protagonist confronts and flees undisclosed enemies, travels from place to place by fulfilling rituals, and solves simple puzzles. Allusions to the Old English epic poem Beowulf become apparent as the player progresses.
