Description official description

Buzz Bombers is an arcade action game similar to Centipede. You control a can of bug spray at the bottom of the screen, and you need to defend yourself from the swarms of incoming bees. The bees start at the top of the screen, and fly their way back and forth, slowly heading towards the bottom of the screen. If they reach the ground, they will pollinate the flowers there which causes them to grow and will restrict movement of your spray can. When you shoot a bee, it will turn into a honeycomb. The honeycombs will cause the bees to head towards the ground even faster, since they will turn around when one is in their way. Your spray can is able to shoot the honeycombs, but if you leave them in place a hummingbird will fly around and eat the honey from them. The more honey the hummingbird eats, the more points you get. The game ends when all of your spray cans are destroyed by growing flowers.

Simple, annoying, little replay value.

The Good
The game's cute and the graphics are nice and inviting. The bees and the spray can are easy to identify and the hummingbirds are nicely animated. It's easy to figure out what to do and the levels are pretty easy to beat.

The Bad
The music is very repetitive and hard to listen to, and the controls are very hard on you. Whenever I fire a shot from the spray can I often feel like I'm frozen in place until the projectile is off the screen, which can get frustrating and makes it very hard to aim. Once you play through one stage, you've pretty much seen all the game has to offer. After three stages, I had no desire to play it ever again.

The Bottom Line
Buzz bombers is somewhat of a strange game and has a sort of charm to it that makes it a little amusing to watch, but it's irritating to play for more than a minute. I don't recommend it.

Trivia

Sponsorship deal

Mike Breen's brief was to develop a game similar to, but different from, Centipede. The result was Buzz Bombers. The marketing department approached the manufacturers of RAID bug spray to see if they would sponsor the game, Mike Breen even got as far an producing a demo version using a RAID can. The idea 'got a cool reception' and the deal never took place.
