The protagonist, Lester Chapman, is a cynical fellow who would never consider supernatural things to truly exist. But when faced with a very bizarre case and an eccentric pair of teenage witches, he gets initiated into the world of magic, armed with a fitting tome - A Sceptic's Guide to Magic. But the dark arts are not without a cost. Would dedication to his work- and facing his past, actually allow him to take on the primordial forces that have been unearthed? A Sceptic's Guide to Magic is an RPG Maker Game that involves spell crafting, clue-searching, and puzzles.
The game offers two modes of storytelling, Adult Content ON or OFF. With the setting on, the game will feature very strong language, nudity, gore and bloody violence (within its pixel art style). With it off, those aspects may be censored. Additionally, there are multiple endings and in-game the player may come across story items that cannot be picked up before a certain story trigger.

The Good
I got ths game from Steam because I liked the idea behind it, a scientist who does not believe in magic having to deal with the reality of it. I was not disappointed. It is a well written story and the pacing and puzzles are just about right. It is a longer game than I expected too.
The Bad
A couple of the puzzles had me scratching my head and searching every location trying many, many combinations of items in locations. This is not too much of a problem for me but it is a warning - the game offers zero hints and there is no skip/auto advance feature.
The Bottom Line
This is a good game.
OK I am stuck and I am frustrated. I got stuck four days ago and I have revisited the game half a dozen times and I still cannot make progress even after finding an on-line guide. That does not mean that the game is at fault and I still recommend it - just be aware that, like me, you may not finish it.
