Arrowhead Game Studios is an independent game development studio based in Stockholm, Sweden. The team members have been working together since the beginning of 2008. The company was formed around the development of the game Magicka. Originally a student project at Luleå University of Technology, it won "Game of the Year" at the Swedish Game Awards 2008 and was turned into a commercial title. It was released in January 2011. The studio was originally located in Skellefteå in northern Sweden, but after the completion of Magicka: Vietnam parts of the team relocated to Stockholm where a second studio was set up. In January 2012 the rest of the team followed. The company's second game, The Showdown Effect was released in March 2013.
