Red Storm was founded in 1996 by Tom Clancy and Doug Littlejohns. Their first game was Politika (1997), followed by Rainbow Six (1998), which helped the company establish itself financially. Red Storm continued to work on various Tom Clancy games, primarily in the Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon series.
On 29 August 2000, Red Storm was purchased by Ubisoft along with their prior game catalogue and intellectual properties.
