Overview edit · view history
Ubisoft Leamington was founded as FreeStyleGames in 2002 in Leamington Spa, UK, primarily by ex-staff from the nearby Codemasters and Rare studios.
The company first developed the break dancing title B-Boy (2006) for the PSP and PS2. In September 2008, FreeStyleGames employed a staff of 55 people full-time.
On 12 September 2008, the company was acquired by Activision. The team was reported to be working on localized downloadable content for Guitar Hero: World Tour. For Activision, FreeStyleGames created the DJ Hero series, a spin-off of the Guitar Hero franchise focused on turntable mixing. The second game was released in October 2010. In February 2011, Activision Blizzard announced to reduce the workforce of the development studio, axing a number of jobs.
On 18 January 2017, the company was sold to Ubisoft and subsequently renamed Ubisoft Leamington.
