Axis

Axis is not an ordinary action arcade game. With a top-down view and an unique work of a camera you have an impression that the world revolves around you. Provided you selected to drive your vehicle, which resambles a tank, by a mouse. The other option is to drive your vehicle, called the Rogue, with a keyboard.

You are placed in an alien base and your goal is to destroy all opponents to get through eight quite enormous levels to the core field generator. You may simply shoot them or place a mine with delayed ignition and for short-distance protection you have up to eight orbitals which circle you and destroy any nearby aliens. From time to time destroyed opponents leave some power-ups to restore your strength, as you have only one life, or to improve your weapons.

Each level has its own "boss" which is a turret with long-distance fire range. The best way to take it down is to sneak as close as possible without detection and then attack. As there is no map or compass you must search for flashing arrows placed on the ground to lead you through all levels.
