Acnean Mutoids

Acnean Mutoids is a 1-player strategy game for the BBC Micro.

Waking up from stasi-sleep, the player finds that their interstellar cruiser has been invaded by an evil race known as the Acneans. The player must avoid the blood-dripping mutoids to activate the ship's self-destruct computer, the only thing that can save the planet Earth.

The game is player from a top-down perspective, with the ship displayed on the screen. The player moves in the cardinal directions, and randomly encounters Acneans as well as hidden weapons. The goal is to find the key to unlock the room to the self-destruct computer, and then destroy the ship. The player can locate a matter disassembler that allows a single destruction of a wall piece. Weapons have a specified weight, and the player can hold a maximum of 120 Astrograms. When encountering an Acnean, the player has several chances to try to defeat the alien. If they fail, they lose a weapon. If the player encounters an Acnean while unarmed they are killed.
